On New Years
Eve, I stood in a long security line at the Denver
airport. When I finally got to the TSA agent to have my
I.D. and boarding pass checked, the agent looked at my
driver’s license and said “Oh My God!” I wondered what
was wrong. Then she got a huge grin on her face and said
“Have you ever been to Sweetie Pies? They have the best
pies in the world!” I laughed and told her that I would
let you know you have a fan in Denver.
For Christmas
this year my daughter decided to leave a Holiday Pie for
Santa instead of cookies. She figured if she left the
pie she would get more presents from Santa.
What a joy to
meet you and enjoy your “pretty pie place”! This year my
best friend gifted me with one o f your delicious Tom’s
pies. When I was young my mother always baked me a
cherry pie for my birthday, so the gift was an
especially sentimental one. The pie was remarkable . I
ate almost every crumb myself - shared a few bites with
friends. I told my friend it was the best birthday gift
I had received since 1975 when i got a horse! Blessings
to you Linda for the joy you spread. -- Donna
The lemon bomb
cookies are the best in the whole world. Thanx!
Best pies and
cookies this side of the Mississippi...so... I'm going
to ship some to Colorado and share with family there
what we enjoy in DeWitt. -- Marc
I have not had a
peanut butter sandwich this good since my passed 20
years ago. -- Neil
Pies are
fantastic! I was heading home last night (across the
street) and all I could smell was the wonderful aroma of
pies baking! Keep up the good work!! -- Keeshe
You are so
awesome - you were my first "Welcoming Committee', as we
decided to stay and settle in DeWitt. My Cherry Cherry
pie is traveling to Jackson to share with family. Keep
cooking!
We've been
bragging about these pies so we're taking them to
Pittsburgh to prove how fantastic they are! -- Lou
My pie is going
to Cleveland! A gift to my Aunt Ester and Uncle Pete.
Thank you so much girls, I love this place! The pink,
the pies, and yummy soup. So fun! I'll be back soon!
Blessings to you! -- Karen
We loved being
here! Everyone hugs! -- Kelley
We came for
cookies for a road-trip to Washington DC for my
daughter's wedding. We needed cookies and fun! Thanks.
FAN-Tastic - the
people, the decor, the "happy atmosphere" - oh yeah -
and the pie. It was the very best! God's best to you. --
Jim & Rosie

Christmas tradition. -- Judy & Gary
Without question your pies &
other sweets are the best I have ever tasted. I live in
Atlanta & have traveled extensively throughout the
country & parts of the world! I will always return to
your amazing bakery. Thanks for all you do!! -- Cath
We came all
the way from Colorado for lunch and pie. Still waiting
for your shipping program or a shop in Denver. Keep up
the great work! -- Ron & Marcy (CO)
My brother saw the coconut cream pie and said it was the
most beautiful coconut cream pie he had ever seen.
Fabulous! The
Cherry Berry Berry was the perfect birthday treat for
me! I have wanted to visit your place since reading
about it in the Grand Rapids Press. Love the
decor - but the pies were the crowning achievement -
worth EVERY LAST CALORIE! -- Jan
The excellence
of these pies was only exceeded by the warm hospitality
of Linda and staff. Thank you. -- Britt
Dad (age 87)
praised Sweetie's pies as being as good has his mother's
who baked for a restaurant in the B&O train terminal in
Crestline, OH in the 20's, 30's, and 40's. His favorite
was peach, but now and then he'd "settle" for banana
cream or pumpkin. Whenever he came to visit us in
Lansing, I would take him to Sweeties for morning coffee
and pie. Of course, it goes without saying that I took
him a pie whenever I went to Ohio. Dad died on Father's
Day weekend 2009, so a trip to Sweeties in his memory is
always pleasant, though poignant. -- Alinda
The kids love
your cookies and we love your peach cherry and cherry
rhubarb pies! We love Michael's music too! -- Sue
We traveled
from Muskegon and Whitehall. Saw your article in the
paper. What fun! Loved the decor, loved the food. Pies
were awesome. As one gentleman said "If I put the pie on
my head, my tongue would beat my brains out to get to
it." Happy baking -- Julie, Jan, Paula
My first time
here - WOW! What a treat! Best chicken salad sandwich I
have every had in my 60 years of eating! I will
definitely come back. Hope you will continue to flourish
and grow. -- Barb
My 87 year-old
mom, twin sister, and two nieces took a field trip today
from Bay City, Alma, and Midland to experience Sweetie-licious
for the first time! We enjoyed every bite of our
sandwiches and pies, and Mike's music. What a great
bunch of "sweeties" you all are!! -- Sandy
What an incredible experience. The food and atmosphere
couldn't be better. This is the highlight of our summer
- we'll be back for sure! -- Jill
My
snickerdoole was delectable. It was sweet with a hint of
love. It was warmed to the perfect temperature. The
employees were charming and very professional. I love
the decor. Great atmosphere! The music set the mood for
the theme of the bakery. In two words I would describe
Sweetie-licious as "simply exquisite." -- Nicke
Thank you for keeping up the tradition of making
home-made pies. I used to make pies in my home and when
husband came home from his work, he would deliver them
around our small town of Big Rapids. That was 60 years
ago. Nothing can compare to a homemade pie made from
scratch. -- Betty (85 years old)
We drove from
Brighton. This is the first stop on our vacation. What a
great way to start a vacation, eating a slice of pie,
then taking a whole one with us! This is a fun place
with great food!
Mom mom has
insisted we make Sweetie-licious a destination stop on
our Michigan vacation. Sooo glad we stopped by for lunch
& dinner pies. When are you planning to expand your
delicious business to northern California? -- Dennis &
Gina (CA)
It's my 59th
birthday and what could be better than a slice of pie!
Heard about you in the Kalamazoo Gazette. Thanks
for a great birthday present!
We saw the
write-up on your great place in The Flint Journal.
I cut it out and put it in my travel book-places to go.
Our second try we finally got here. Out quiche was
exceptional as was the blueberry salad, cherry lime
muffin, and CCB pie. We couldn't take a pie home due to
being on the motorcycle, but we will be back and pass
along your name. What a neat place and delicious food.
It was a blessing. -- Vic & Jan
Real men do
eat quiche. Wow the food was incredible! -- Samuel

The
best cookies we’ve ever had! –- Melissa & Katy
When
I was a young child (8-9 years old) there was always a
Saturday morning ritual. As soon as my grandmother got
her pies and bread out of the oven, she would call me to
come over. (By the way, way back then her oven was a
wood burner which made bakes goods that aren’t made
today.) But after trying Sweetie Pies pie it’s my
grandmother’s pie again. I am now blessed for my
daughter has now taken up her great grandmother’s baking
habits. Now I can have old-fashioned pie at my
daughter’s and at Sweetie Pies. –- Richard
My
wife, Kathy, and I first saw Linda in Faith Magazine
and not long after, The Flint Journal. Since we
were headed to Lansing to bike some trails, we thought
we’d start with lunch at Sweetie Pies. The Flint
Journal had mentioned the egg salad sandwich, which
made the easy choice for me. Kathy chose the chicken
salad sandwich. About half-way through lunch I looked at
my wife and said “This is the BEST egg salad sandwich
I’ve ever had!” Kathy replied, “This is, hands-down, the
BEST chicken salad sandwich I’ve ever had.” We’re now
hooked on the sandwiches and are about to be hooked on
the pies. Since my wife is already enjoying her pie as I
write this, and the fact that my slice of key-lime is
calling my name, I’m forced to wrap this up. I can do it
in two words – Absolutely Fantastic! –- Jason
Going
to visit Grandma Mabel who is 97 years old. Taking her a
pie for a special visit. Looking forward to having pie
with her.
What
ambrosia! Worth the trip. Continue blessing people Linda
–- Patty (IN)
My
fourth visit here and I never cease to be amazed at the
deliciousness of the fare. Today it was the chicken
salad. Such a combination of tastes – from chicken, to
apples, to cherries. Thanks for the wonderful food and
thoughtful service you continually provide –- Julia
Took a piece of coconut
raspberry pie to my 89 year old mother who was a great
baker – said she never had such a good pie – even better
than hers!
Your
carrot cake is my favorite food on the planet.
You can
just come in, sit down and breathe in all the yummy
smells, and not even get anything to eat – because it
smells so good! I wish I could eat the air!
Everything is SO GOOD. I can’t stop eating all of the
delicious food and treats. The homemade taste is so
comforting and delicious.
I live in
California and wouldn’t ever visit Michigan without
getting one of your pies.
-– Mary
We love
Sweetie-licious pies. In fact, we don’t buy pies
anywhere else. It’s nice to be part of a mission to
deliver good food.
The key
lime pie is as good, if not better than anywhere, even
Key West Florida, where the pie originated. Don’t change
a thing – we’ll be back –- Jeri, St. Louis, MO.
One hour
to drive here. Hope to come back often – no matter the
price of gas. The
pie is the best!-- Bob & Kathie

changing...
My seventeen year old son drives through downtown DeWitt
just before 7 am. The town is completely dark. But when
he sees the lights on in 'Sweetie Pies' he feels like
"alls right with the world"
We happened upon this special place by accident - or
should I say serendipity - a few weeks ago on our way up
north. Couldn't get the memory of the pie (and
especially the crust) out of our mind. So... on a trip
from Holland to Plymouth MI we had to come by again.
Then, we realized that we had read about Linda in
Faith Magazine. Just one more divinely inspired
opportunities to enjoy the many good things in life!
Blessings to you! -- The Lawsons

DeWitt is so lucky
I was at my
class reunion committee meeting and one of my fellow
graduates mentioned to the group about the 'most
delicious' pies in the world (better than moms) that she
purchased. My ears perked up and I asked where? - Her
comment was, you probably wouldn't know this small town
- Where I asked? - She said near Lansing MI - I looked
at her and said "DeWitt? - Yes, said she, how did you
know? - I replied that my daughter and family live there
and she brought two piece for Thanksgiving - WOW! Were
they awesome! Not a crumb was left. - Thanks Sweetie

you, Alice & Barbara
I grew up in
the Detroit area, however all my relatives lived (and
still do) in Alabama. As a small child, the road trips
to visit them were painfully long and slow. It was
eventually worth the wait. Every time we arrived at my
grandmother's house (Mamo as we called her) she would
have a fresh, homemade chocolate cream pie waiting.
Unbelievably sweet & delicious! To this day, the memory
is still just as sweet and just as delicious!
The Sweetie Pie shop in DeWitt,
Michigan captures the essence of its name in more ways
than one. Certainly its customers will attest to
the fact that the homemade pies created there are
delicious, but the real sweetie pie in this place it its
owner, Linda Hundt.
As a new resident of this
town, who had just moved from New Jersey, I experienced
the charm and kindness of this unique ‘Sweetie Pie’
establishment in a special way. Our son, Jim and
his lovely fiancée, Amy we getting married on New Year’s
Eve in Kalamazoo, Michigan. We were having friends from
the east coast return with us on the Sunday after the
wedding to DeWitt to see our new home. They would spend
the night and then catch flights back to Maryland and
Washington DC. I wanted to have a nice meal fro them and
I knew that Sweetie Pies had great desserts.
Unfortunately, I knew the shop was closed on Sundays and
what’s more it was a holiday, “New Years Day”.
I stopped by the store and talked
to Linda a little bit about our wedding and she
immediately offered to bake pies for me at her home on
Sunday evening. She told me I could pick them up
on Sunday when we returned home from our son’s
wedding. She gave me her cell phone number in case
I had trouble finding her home since I was new in town. I was overwhelmed by her generosity. My friends Laura and Colleen went
with me to get the pies and they were both
saying—“This would never have happened in New
Jersey!!” I tried to tell them this is the
Midwest and there is a neighborliness here like nowhere
else.
We found the pies in pink boxes
with ribbons around them and a nice note from Linda.
I won’t ever forger her kindness or how great those
pies, made with love, tasted on New Year’s Day 2006 --
Sue
