These cute little cookies are big on maple flavor! Just perfect with an ice-cold glass of milk

• 2 C. brown sugar, packed
• 1 C. Crisco
• ½ C. buttermilk
• 1 egg, beaten
• 1 tsp. vanilla
• 1 C. white flour
• ¾ C. whole wheat flour
• 1 tsp. baking soda
• 1 ½ tsp salt
• ¼ tsp nutmeg
• ¼ tsp. maple extract
• 1 C. raisins
• Raw sugar

Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Mix brown sugar, Crisco, buttermilk, egg, and vanilla. Mix together dry ingredients and add to sugar mixture. Stir in raisins. Shape dough into 1” balls. Place about 3” apart on an ungreased cookie sheet. Flatten cookies with the bottom of a glass dipped in water. Sprinkle with raw sugar. Bake till golden brown, about 8-10 min. Immediately remove from the cookie sheet and transfer to a rack till cooled.  Enjoy with a cold glass of milk!!
